My primary responsibility was to define the technical scope of the new optical tracking system and translate tracking requirements and engineering constraints into physical design decisions. To ensure accurate optical tracking, I collaborated closely with in-house software and hardware teams to co-develop the tracking technology and develop the form of the light patterns.
We began by validating a variety of 2D pattern concepts with software engineers to define tracking requirements and identify factors affecting accuracy. Based on the validated 2D patterns, I translated and optimized the designs into 3D illuminated forms, adapting them to the controller’s curved geometry while maintaining tracking performance.
