This product was developed for a world-leading U.S.sanitary ware brand in collaboration with their Shanghai team. It was designed specifically for the Hong Kong market, where residential spaces are increasingly compact, and bathrooms are often windowless. Based on the client’s objectives and product requirements, we proposed multiple aesthetic directions and IoT application concepts to align with their vision, while also delivering design solutions optimized for mass production and assembly.

Results

The design was adopted for mass production following successful validation of the vent functionality.

The Minimalist Aesthetic for Bathroom Space

This hybrid device combines a heater and an air purifier in a single, ceiling-mounted form. Featuring a glass surface that sits flush with the ceiling, the design integrates seamlessly with the bathroom interior. Adaptive lighting provides optimal illumination throughout different times of the day. Enabled by intelligent technology, the product elevates the overall bathroom experience.

Ideation & Process

We explored form development, vent configurations, lighting effects, control interfaces, and structural optimization through iterative sketching, 3D modeling, and prototyping.

Flush With the Ceiling

To achieve a completely flush ceiling integration, the rotating fan structure was redesigned so the fan blades can be fully concealed within the housing when opened, creating a clean and minimalist visual presence.

Hidden Lighting

Light-emitting panels are concealed when turned off, preserving the visual simplicity and refined aesthetics of the bathroom environment.

IoT application concept

The device records and analyzes bathroom usage patterns to minimize unnecessary preheating, improving energy efficiency. Combined with infrared sensors, the system automatically activates dehumidification after the user leaves the bathroom. Once the dehumidification process is complete, the device notifies the user, ensuring both comfort and energy-conscious operation.
